3000 Fan Installation

My 3000 gets hot - probably too hot for the hardware. In an effort to save the insides from excessive amounts of heat I was thinking about installing a fan. Has anyone ever heard of this or done it? Is there a way to power the fan internally, maybe flip the power source from the floppy disk drive to a fan?

i was gonna do it. was gonna cut 10mm off the fins on the heat sink and stick a fan in there but then bottled it. anyway i was told by a tech that its normal and nothing to worry about. its in the nature of a linear power supply to get hot like that so forget about it.

A better option would maybe be to make an external power supply: move the heat out of the box. This will not be as noisy as a fan either.

Had the same problem: my 3K got real hot (after two hours you couldn't touch it; one cable on the inside already started to melt). Because I was scared to take power from the inside and too lazy to make it a big tech thing I put 50x50mm/12V fan on the backside with an external power supply. It's less noise than from my note book next to the 3K.
Still gets warm but not as hot as before.
