Hi,
I recently brought a Spyrus/MPL MS-MCDISK-D-3 on ebay as they are currently going cheap from a surplus supplier in the hope that it may work with my new baby (MPC60MKII). My MPC60MKII currently does not have the SCSI Upgrade but I thought I would give it a shot with my S3000Xl V2 just to see if it would work.
The short answer is NO, it will not work with a Compact Flash/PCMCIA adapter, though if will work with a SRAM PCMCIA card. This doesn't surprise me after a quick look through the manual as it is stated that ATA disks are only supported by the Spyrus/MPL MS-MCDISK-D-1 and Spyrus/MPL MS-MCDISK-D-2 not the Spyrus/MPL MS-MCDISK-D-3.
(I should say that I am 100% positive the my SCSI set up is correct, which is proved by the fact a SRAM card works)
So as it stands DO NOT buy one.
On to my next query, I know that there a few very knowledgeable people on this forum and I would like to know if anyone has looked into hacking this model to work with ATA disks. Chances are that it is not possible but there has been occasions in the past where I has discovered after a little research that a solder bridge is all that is required to get something to work when it shouldn't.
Any thoughts?
