How to format USB drive to 100 1.44mb partitions?

I'm trying to find a partitioning utility (for XP or 7) to format a 1GB usb drive into 100 1.44 mb partitions so I could use it with a floppy drive emulator. I can't find a partition manager that would go as low as 1.44mb partitions. You guys know of a any freeware utility?

Found this on my travels, don't know if they are any good as I've haven't used any of these utilities

In what machine?

There's guys around here that installed them in MPC60's and S950's with success.

Isn't the USB version read-only?
SD cards can be mount on the emulator and you can read and write on them with the sampler but with the USB version installed on the sampler it can only read from the USB stick.
I'm not sure tho.

I've installed the emulator on an Yamaha RM1x. It works (read and write) but it has a problem with refreshing the catalog when you switch the number of the diskette. So the default number is 00, and the RM1x thinks it's 00 even if you switch the disk to 01, or another number. The only way to get it to work is to push buttons and turn encoders, till it refreshes. It works differently every time, so it ain't a solution.

On another forum people were discussing the same problem and they found a solution by shorting one of the jumper contacts on the emulator.

for the record the hxc emulator which costs a little bit more is basically plug and play, read and write, one partition, and each disk image is a separate file which can be moved / copied just like any other file.

to me it was the best upgrade i could have done. and the few extra $ it costs were worth it to me for a simple solution from dedicated single developer as opposed to mass produced knock offs.

just trying to save some people some headaches. i'm glad people are posting their experience with the different solutions.

^^^ Yeah I totally agree, and with the new version that fits perfect in the floppy bay, it's a total no brainer. I will mos def pick one up for my S950. It has max ram so it will be a big help with archiving my samples and loops.

bear in mind the only slight pain-in-the-ass thing i had to do was create a blank disk image, then copy and paste it a whole bunch of times so i had empty disk images to write to.
however, considering the fact that you can image a formatted disk, and duplicate this, you wont need to format each of these disk images as they already are ready to go

Yes. Forum member Milando bit the bullet and became the tester. Has since been succesfully purchased and installed by several other members using MPC60's.

The USB emulator has been confirmed to read and write in MPC60's.

It's also a lot cheaper than the HxC emulators. I don't think Jeff (HxC creator) is impressed with this development after all the work he put in. The USB emulators have been out there for some time, we just needed someone to order from China and confirm compatability. Thank Milando for taking the plunge and sharing.

I'm not recommending one over the other, but you do the maths...
