Large Tack Switches On MPC 1000

I've been using detox on a few off my small tact switches on my 1k for a while now, there are slowly giving up the ghost so it's time I replaced them all with some better 3rd party tact switches. I have a question about the large tact switches:

Do the large tact switches have the same issues as the smaller tact switches have on the 1k?

can you solder any good? because that is what you have to do to replace the tact switches, big or small. What you need to do is match them. the smaller ones are 2 pole i think from memory, and you need to find ones that have a high cycle rating to. If you replace the smaller ones, then you need to use better ones other wise you will be going through the same thing again.So i found ones that matched that were rated for half a million cycles i think. thats what you want be it big or small.

Thanks for the reply Bliprock. Haven't done any soldering for a while, think I've got an old tv somewhere that I can practice on before I solder and replace the tact switches. Is it worth upgrading the large tact switches at the same time as the small?

I've not heard of the large ones breaking, so I'd just replace the small tacts for now if I were you.

the small ones that come as standrd are rated at a crappy 500 000 cycles..

the improved small ones (alps skhhaka010) are rated at 1 000 000 cycles

the large ones that come as standard (alps skqead) are rated at 10 000 000 cycles and dont seem to pop up in these threads as breaking down anywhere near as much - probably cos they are bigger and have more contact area..

the alps tact switches feel much better in general...much more responsive.
