today i found a twin mattress on sale at ikea for 40 dollars, it had a small grease smudge on it so they marked it off 50%. they also had a bunch of thicker mattresses for 45-200 dollars.

here is the model i got, it usually sells for 79.99

im gonna build a frame for it, or maybe even get the accompanying slot bed frame (

i plan on getting a couple more of these in the future so i can have a nice collapsible vocal booth without denting the pockets too much.
you can also upgrade these by gluing some rigid fiberglass (roxoul, oc703) to one side of the mattress, after that, just secure them in place with a normal mattress cover.
i would glue the back of the mattress cover to the mattress so you dont go breathing in the fiberglass all the time though.

just thought some of you may be interested in using something like this as portable acoustic baffle for recording vocals or instruments. enjoy.

Wouldn't the normal DIY pannels be cheaper in comparison? :hmmm:

Haha.

If you build a vocal booth, at least you'll be able to get your female vocalist's 'into bed'.

That's a cool idea, sleep on it...
