Does anyone have pictures of the bottom of the PCB board that houses the Jog Wheel and both volume controls. I seem to be having a problem with my main volume and from the looks of it, the volume encoder might not be soldered properly as in someone replaced it or worked on it before. Just want to make sure before i spent $100 on a new board. I already have just the encoder on the way but when i looked at it last night something seemed off and I might be able to fix it with the encoder that is already there.

Thanks in advance.

im going to try to email MPCstuff but it seems their website is down right now. can access the website on my phone but not at work. :/

all good, I thought that's what you were after but wasnt 100...what exactly are you trying to see back there ? I dont got a pic but it looks something like this

it's not that hard to open it up and have a look, good number of screws you gotta undo other than that it's pretty straight forward operation

i need a picture of where the main volume encoder is soldered, i opened mine up and looked at it just need one to compare too. it isn't hard to take one apart and look at it, is just a pain because of the all the connectors attached to the board

I have a black out kit that I might install on the weekend, if you have not found what you need by then, I can take some photos for you.

yea that would be awesome if you could do that, i got a response from the guy at MPCstuff, he said they don't have pictures of the back but offered to look at a picture of mine to see if it's the same.

I have my old one, I just did this board replace and kept
My old board for the tact switches I may need.
Pm me your Email and I'll send you photos of whatever you
Need. This board is a pretty easy fix for gain or volume pots
And encoder all in one and best of all , no solder.

i actually ended up hearing back from the mpcstuff.com owner i sent him a picture of my board and it was indeed as i pretty much suspected completely **** up

Image

I desoldered everything on the encoder and tried to resolder it without those leads and nothing no sound at all was actually worse than with it on. so i just said **** it and ordered a new board. should be here in a few days will report back.

There is a tricky part with that board , when you get to
Unlatching the harness , the top 4 operate pretty normal,
However the bottom harness is a **** to undo, you will
Likely crack the harness locking clip , don't sweat it
As the new boards ship with NO NEED to use this locking
Clip, DO NOT try to force the old clip on , from what I understand
Akai changed the spec on these. If you try to use the locking
Clip with your new board ,you may end up like I did and
Bend the receiver . It literally just slides in , and you will feel
A click when it is in place.
Also , there are tiny white board spacers on your original
Board , your new board does NOT ship with these , so...
Step 1 take the tiny white board spacers off of your old
And on to your new BEFORE you instal, I had it all harnesses
Back in before I noticed them not on the new board.
Hope this helps and if you need photo of this or have any other
Questions , let me know.
It's a pretty straight forward install ,once you know of the harness
Difference
