my only question is with this new jjos can i swap my cf card with my mpc500 like i can with jjos1???? also will the old os, akai &jj work with this screen? if so, what will it look like??

Thanks for the praise guys! It is appreciated.

Spending some time relaxing today because of the holiday but I will give you some more info tomorrow to your questions.

As for the JJ OS updates and cost. Their will be separate JJ OS's for normal 1000 and 2500 screen and the XL Large LCD Screens. So the JJ Updates will not require the new XL screen. So basically if you have the XL screen you will have a different OS available to you but if you chose to use the small one it will be fine. JJ will support both screen sizes.

Money officially set aside, but I do have a question:

No it will not require any of that. It will be a complete drop in.

There will be a few different ways to mount the constrast POT, which does not need to be soldered or anything. I chose the drill the case method, only thing that you would need would be a drill to drill hole in the case to mount it. Other option is mounted from the back (not as pretty as the drilled hole method)

Not sure what you mean about swapping your card. The OS should operate just as the older JJ OS.

Akai will not work properly, it will show but it wont be stretched or anything of better use. Using the screen with the old OS would not make sense.

why would anything discussed here have any effect on that?! :?

edit: ah right, I read the original question and it's clear now. JJOS 2XL (and it's safe to assume that all future os's) has a lot different features so things (PGMs etc.) aren't 100% compatible. Samples are so those you can swap around to your hearts content.
