livid base

and?

I was interested in this pre-NAMM when the first details where released but not so much anymore. I love a lot about Livid but not this product, especially not when compared to some of the alternatives. The only real plus about the Base is how deeply customizable it is without the need for Python, Javascript or M4L. I don't think Livid surveyed the market well enough, here. However, I could be wrong and it may work for some who fit into even more of a niche group than the rest of us.

Anyone use one yet? The pads do have aftertouch. I'll probably dumpster dive for this on eBay. It is nice to see a made in the USA midi controller though. That alone may be a reason to buy.

it seems good for someone who really likes to hack their own controls, just in the same formfactor as push / maschine / studio.
im personally not a fan of touchstip, would prefer actual sliders and knobs, but is cool when you think you could slide it literally in a record bag and have nothing break off.

still would take a lot of thought and practice to operate it well - i think this is where maschine excels, and push might have an advantage too in that they have a very descriptive readout that tells you what is going on. this could be confusing if you just have it set in front of you.
if they come out with custom software for it it could really get interesting.
