Advise on getting a Rolland TB303 sound from a Akai S3000

Only just found out what a Rolland TB303 is and does.
I'm 40 years old .
But anyway. That shit sounds dope.
I'm sure I can emulate it on my S3000 , The filters are good on a S3000 and when it's connected to the modulation wheel ...you can do nice long filter changes.

So. I just wondered if anyone could give me any advise about what to sample to achieve that beginning tone, shape, what have you?
Or if anyone knows how to simulate it using the S3000.

They look rubish, but then I saw a video of it doing some acid house and realized I've heard that ACID noise before.

not sure but you can probably start with any saw wave and any pulse, generate them in audacity. sequence something, throw in a few portamento slides, crank resonance, tweak envelopes.

Have you been living under a rock?

I wouldn't try to fake it with samples if I wanted that sound. I'd save up for a TT-303 or maybe go with the TB-3 that Roland released last year. There's quite a few options available but nothing will be a sonically exact replica of the original.

yea yer gonna have a hard time getting a convincing sound with a sampler. some of the key things that give the 303 its sound are weird device specific behaviors, like the accent function affecting multiple parameters in different ways, the slide working even on rested noted.
you can get close with a sample - make it legato monophonic, put a short decaying filter on it, and then tweak the cutoff, the resonance, the env amount, and the decay of the envelope.
you'll get close, but youll just want a real one ;]

I got the TB-3 and for the money, I think it's well worth it. I like it because it not only has the ill type tb-303 bass, it has a wide variation of bass sounds. There are other good sound banks on it as well. One of the bass sounds has sort of "flutter" effect on it. It's sick the way it hits and fades out with the drums knockin. It is controlled by my MPC Ren, and when you set it up to play chords, you can really get some ill bass. You can also alter each sound with a variety of knobs. (Attack, Resonance, Filter, Etc.) I would definitely recommend it if you are looking to emulate the 303. I feel the same way Tapedeck does about sampling it. It just doesn't sound right to me. It doesn't feel right. Like when that priest touched my........ Nevermind. Also, I see a lot of heads talk about the x0xb0x. I have no experience with that so I can't really speak on it.

this is very true - rebirth is and always has been an incredibly faithful emulation of the 303.

i think a x0xb0x is about as good as you can get, hardware wise. i like the idea of the tb3, but why a touchscreen!?! and at the expense of some original 303 knobs....maybe its super fun this way, but i would only buy this thing for a recreation and this major design change just makes me feel funny.
