To me the X has the best workflow of all the hardware samplers I have tried. (The A4000/A5000 is a pretty close second though - and the editing workflow below works for it too)
Sampling workflow: Basically the sampling/chopping workflow is manual. You can either:
1. Sample a couple of bars, then chop by changing start/end points, copying to the next pad and changing start/end points, repeat as desired... or
2. Sample snippets. While the record (or mp3) is playing, just sample the part you want, assign it to a pad. Rinse and repeat. I prefer this to sampling and chopping, but you still gotta go back and tighten up the start and end points (use the editing workflow below).
Editing workflow: Basically what you're gonna do is edit one parameter for all samples. That's the quickest way, because the pad you played last is the one that is selected for editing, and the parameters take a minute to navigate to. As opposed to the MPC where its faster to edit all (or desired) parameters for one pad.
So for example, to tighten up the snippets you sampled above, you'll go to the appropriate screen (Start/Loop/End) and tap a pad, then twirl the value knob. When you're done, just tap the next pad and twirl the value knob again.
