Cheers for your replies. Those kicks do sound the same. That is some one else who made the test for me on their own s950 and posted the file here so props to you ziekefons for that cheers bro

I will record and sequence the kick on my 950 so you guyz can hear what i am talking about

and there is no difference in velocity for all those MIDI notes? :hmmm:
yeah I'm stumped but it sounds to me like changes in the filter cutoff frequency. very little pitch modulation if any.

the velocity is the same for all midi notes. the only midi message going to the 950 is note on/off. with no filter envelope the kick plays normal.

as soon as I put a filter envelope I start getting this pitch change from one hit to another

Bump

Somebody must know. Could it be the voice board, ram? Like i said i removed the ram expansions and got the same results

I had some weird issue's with triggering on my 950 which were fixed when I realised they were caused by having VELOCITY set to 0 in page 11 (VLCTY) of the PROGRAM pages.
Maybe try that.

After looking at your kick waveforms, it's just the transients that are different.
After the first 0.005 seconds of every kick they all sound/are the same. Same waveforms.
It's just the transient which is altering.
Now the question is why.

cheers jimmy. that has already been tried. some one suggested i changed that setting on the dxarmy forum as well. it didnt work. still i get the same.

regarding the kick waveforms it seems to me the filter has different values per kick as well

i may have to open it up and check some connections before i figure it out. i was thinking it could be the voice board but dont know how to close in on the issue

try assigning that sample's keygroup to just a single output. I think that's one of the very last screens of edit program.

Key-filter has to be 0, its originally on 50, when 50 the filter will be less active the higher the note is. if you want your filter values to be constant you should put key-filter to 0. Its under EDIT PROGRAM, same page as constant pitch and one shot I recall.

Don't use the 00 output.

Assign it to either output 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 in PROGRAM. i.e. a single, mono voice.
The 00 output causes a polyphonic mess unless ur careful.

this is the only thing I can think of at the moment. notice in the clip its the 6th and 12th hit is way different than the others. maybe thats just one of the output voices sounds different for some reason.

thanks a lot for the answers

I tried that. Still the same results

I tried that as well. the filter value varies randomly. so what I have now is a single kick loaded in the s950 ram and one keygroup. velocity sens filter on page 11 is set to 0, key-filter on page 15 is set to 0, tried to assign it to different outputs and still get the same results for each output I try. of course that is annoying.

I will open it and check connections inside. I still believe it is the voice board and if that is the case its either a loose cable or a faulty board.

you guys have given out good suggestions so far so thanks for that but still haven't got anywhere with it

right, I opened the 950 and checked all joints, removed the voice board and checked every wire was hooked correctly, even the os chips were sitting in place correctly.

:) lol

what could it be?
