Elektron's New Drum/Sampler/Sequencer

The digi is where it's at tho got that thing poppin last night. The live/digi combo is more than I ever could dream up. Like you I hope they both keep getting developed, so far elektron has been pretty good and hopefully when Akai gets it act together they're just as solid.

just use midi and hook the assignable out from the live to the digi. I can program both sequencers at the same time taking advantage of the plocks, and the mpc workflow. Ive been using the digi for mainly stabs, synths and weird rhythmic stuff and processing it just as I would my other synths with ouboard effects. Most of the drums I have been doing just on the live.

yes I gigures u midi together my question what is the benefit of using the two units in tandem as they are both sampling drum machines.

like i dont get peeps who say they use the mpc and sp1200 together.

it seems strange i get that someone would wanna use s950 with the mpc cos one is a rack and may have more sample memory and the the old 60's had less memory so they would do they drum sampling on the mpc and the other samples on the rack sampler.

the digi offers way different options for just about everything. the live and digi are completely different machines. I assume thats the reason someone would use a sp1200 and a mpc, besides not banging up the old pads on the emu or memory limitations. The sp would be used for the sound that is something only a sp can do. I have never used two sequencers before this and am still pretty new to both machines, but Having the two really offers alot workflow wise.

Think about it this way: With using the digi I can create sequences and tweak them in real time while tracking out to the live. The digitakt is more of a performance instrument/old school drum machine with limitations while the live is a straight forward sampler/with a mini daw and other features on it. It also helps as I am limited by only two assignable outs on the live and I use alot of outboard effects on my samples.

I will admit it's somewhat of a luxury but so far it's opened up a whole new realm of creative possibilities. I will say that there is a benefit to me and my workflow because I dont have to switch around tracks or click buttons to change what I am doing. I can tweak stuff without getting too involved with menus or options. It's true you can do everything on most samplers but these two offer alot without being overbearing like a true daw. They complement each other wonderfully in my setup.

One of the best Digitakt-videos so far I think. Really showcasing the sampling and performance possibilities. There's a few more videos by this guy showing the digi.

Will be my next buy!!!

Pretty much me during the first 5 days with the Digi

New RYTM, now a full fledge sampler!

the rytm is the one i always consider...so many next level features. it's in such a different league with so much new shit, i don't even think people can see / process all the power it has cause its just so unfamiliar. even without actual 'sampling' and just sample playback, that thing is a monster.

think of it like the difference between an s-series sampler and an mpc.

Guys at Elektronauts did a scale comparison and the RYTM mkII is a lot bigger, even the 12 pads are bigger.

They are clever those SX guys. Pay 10% now and feel like you paid the original mkI price later

A $100 more here too. Octatrack mkII is also $100 extra than the OG.

If only the digitakt had them pads

that analog rhythm mk 2 looks like what the emu command station should of been
