I don't really play into the "killer" game TBH. I think both companies should have a mutli-faceted approach where they offer a product that is accessible for every tax bracket as opposed to trying to lure them into the flagship product.

That being said...I think Maschine has taken a relatively more honest and practical approach with the Mikro controller. AKAI just took a big, steaming dump all over the place with the Element.

They could have put some serious pressure on NI, IMO, if they didn't gut the SW so much.

All being said...No, I don't think this is a "Ren Killer" but...the fact remains that NI is just looking in the rear view because their platform is much more stable. So they bring a flagship controller with an already stable infrastructure....

that = WIN for NI

I agree! No reason to limit the software with the Element! Most of the magic happens with the Ren hardware. This is why hardware dongling means nothing. Even if the Element had full software, it's still not a Ren. I think they place more value in the software than they do the hardware, when it should be the other way around. The hardware is what makes the whole experience, IMO! I don't think there is any desire to fully use the software without hardware. Can't see it being pirated at all. Dongling should have never been implemented!

Is it weird that there's nothing about this on the internet apart from this thread? Wasn't beat making when MK1 dropped so not sure if this is the way they do things.
