Ensoniq ASR-10 help, for ASRonians.

i'm sure some of you have gotten the ram upgrade

is it hard to install? it looks pretty simple but tutorial videos made by the company usually make things look simple

(the simplicity of the task will not be a factor in my decision to buy the ram upgrade, i'm just wondering what to expect)

also, my asr is on a desk, not on a keyboard stand.. do you think its gonna be tough flipping it over? not just in terms of weight but how should i keep it upside down when i do this? cause i dont want all its weight pushing the buttons into my desk (picture it upside down) you know?

its simple to install the ram just open the little hole on the bottom its like 2 screws and just flips out.

i put mine on my couch or bed or something soft that wont pressure it just throw a pillow under it if you aint got the room.

how can i copy my os disk to a new floppy? i want to make a back up in case something happens to it..
i looked in the manual.. no luck.. but if its there and you know it, you dont have to give me a hard time just tell me its there and i'll look again..

but ive tried it and there was some error...

It is there - what you need to do is FORMAT a new floppy disk - after it formats then you are given the option of whether you want the OS copied on the disk.

Are you sure your ASR-10 is switched on ?

Ok i know its 2010 but i wanted my asr 10 for years. Now that i got it, along with a scsi zip 100 drive. When i try to format scsi drive it says "uncoonected scsi dev" Know I do have os 3.0, but the keyboard says scsi installed during boot up, then searching for scsi devices,then asks for disk. I only have the os on floppy, so i use that to boot. but when i try to change storage dev or format scsi, i get the "unconnected scsi dev" error. My scsi cable is brand new, and the zip does spin when i insert a disk,tried diff id's and termination settings.....Its like the asr doesn't recognize the zip drive at all...Im hurting yall please help.

yo so my birthday is coming up and my parents have no idea what i want, neither do i, but i just finished a course at a community college about how to use protools and so im thinking they might get me that, if i ask for it.

but before i ask for anything like that i wanted to double check, so if i was gonna track out of the ASR, track(instrument) by track(instrument), would it work to get pro-tools and an mbox, and use the ASR's midi outs and audio outs and go into the mbox and track out into protools?

i would put together something in Song mode, then solo a track and record it out. and by using the midi i could sync it up so that im not having to line up the individual tracks inside the daw, they would be lined up already? cause right now ive been recording each track in and just lining them up so they look/sound right. but im sure thats not the best way to do it.

I'm having the same problem. I have OS 3.53 on floppy and its no longer recognizing the Zip drive. Before, it was recognizing the Zip, and I could even boot off of the Zip drive (older version of the OS, not sure which one). But now nothing.

im having trouble with something -

i have a piano sample that i chopped up into 4 parts, and each was a little off the main tempo,

so i found out the tempo of each and time compressed/expanded them.

but for the last one (which is 79 bpm) i tried to expand it (to 74 bpm) (many times) and every time instead of expanding, the wavesample (the 4th chop) gets replaced by another one (the 2nd chop).

so in its place is an earlier piece of the "loop".


its **** weird. whats going on, have you experienced it before, and how can i fix it?

you sure you have enuff time left on the memory,i can only get 4wave samples in my eps16+ and thats with chopping.i usually dont have space till i truncate the wave sample for that one piece.
i dont have any extra memory or anything just stock what ever it came wtih ,still using floppys, i have experienced that , thats just my exerience.

how about time streching it first then make your chops, thats wht i do.
