I hear ya. Touch screen doesn't matter to me. Screen size does though. I am comfy with a Mouse and tactical knobs etc. I kinda like it's makeup, looks dope and from what I read it's quite the catch. If people wanna add sounds, they can do so with a USB hook up with a dock with SSD in it. And Just go. Have anyone read where the ram is optional? I haven't read that? The 4 Gig Ram is kinda dope, but really is dope is you get the whole 4 Gig Ram to yourself and the other 32 Gig is dedicated to sounds, am I right? So they did that right, where they kept that separate. I kinda like that. Akai put the content sounds on the 2 Gig ram taking up space. But I see a lot who have that other Maschine switching over quick, and getting some new customers. That's quite sweet for them.

Now having synths on it, whewwwww wweeeee! and Massive? That's really sweet. Hell I have Serum and Massive is the mother of it. Dudes will love that.

That Price though  Good lawd LOL    For real, that's the only thing I don't agree with.

It is missing a battery, something that if you are going stand alone - you should have.
There is no place to install a hdd - not a big deal as memory sticks and cards are a thing.
It doesn't have touchscreen, but so few people use the touchscreen unless they absolutely have to on the MPCs, that it doesn't seem like it means anything.
So those are the obvious detractors when compared to say the Live.

No speakers, few people care about that.
No CV, not the intended crowd.
so that's comparing it to the newer Live 2.

Then look the other way. It has real and some powerful at that - plug-ins - in the box. I enjoy Hype as much as the next person, but Massive? And if they are putting Massive on there, what's to stop them from getting other synths and plug-ins from Komplete on there? When I think MPCs, I think sampling, when I think NI/Maschine, I think about using their suite of plugins...and sampling (too bad Noir will never come, that is too hard for the processor to handle, my i7 chokes on it sometimes).
It doesn't have a battery or hdd location, but its form factor reminds me of the MPC Studio with an angle, so taking it with you will be a lot easier, both in dimension and weight, than say the Live or Live 2.
4GBs of RAM is nothing to sneeze at, especially compared to what we have with the Live/X/2.
It comes with more storage as well.

And then there is the price. A NEW Live 2 is $1200, this is $1400, so you are paying $200 more - for arguably more features and better hardware. But, there is another difference that "I" am going to fess up to - NI has MASSIVE sales at least once a year. I don't recall Akai doing anything other than tossing us some expansion packs at 50%. NI will give you like $400-$500 of software for FREE with the purchase of the hardware. So if you don't rush into it, you could get a REAL nice come up next June/July.

I'm not saying its perfect, heck I'm not even chasing it down, but its gotten lots of venom thrown its way.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in, but I think the 32GB is flash storage, while the 4GB is memory. I don't think they're related.

4GB is plenty for samples/chops. Anyone that use a lot of VIs knows that 4GB is nothing in that regard though. Even with detailed keygroups, 4GB is maybe 4-5 good ones. Adding round robins, velocity layers, etc with a typical VI, 4GB goes fast. They should've included more, or at least allowed for upgrades.

No way that’ll work, haha remember the MPC2500 effects !! Absolutely dreadful. :)
I’d like to slag off the MPC touch that ripped me off 500 quid but hilariously it broke after a week haha
My maschine is still plodding along even after 13 UNLUCKY YEARS
just don’t tell JEREMY DAVIDS

jeremy davis, is that the triangle player from nickleback?

Yes Im fine with 4GB ram but I love if it can expand! That's the problem I had with the MPC Live. I haven't seen them say it's expandable though.

Yeah that's what I thought. I didn't read anywhere that the RAM is expandable. But if it was, boooooyyyyyyyyeeeeee oooooohhhh weeee! That would be monster move! But I think they might save that mighty blow and see what Akai does. This is chess not checkers LOL

I'm worried the hardware's shortcomings and price will combine to limit the success of the +, and that lack of success will stunt NI's standalone development.

The hardware is not enough to lure MPC One users, and definitely not Live users. The content duplicates a lot of what many MK3 users already have. IMO, the market will be limited to the few MK3 users that really want standalone capability, and new customers that like the Maschine workflow over MPC.

Better I/O and more RAM would've made this a no brainer for a large segment of creators; those that use a beat machine but also rely heavily on virtual instruments. It might also include some of the DAWless community even though VIs are not their thing. But the virtual synths might've attracted them since they could run standalone.

I think this was a bad chess move.

Just to make things clear before things start to live a life on it’s own and I get crucified for sharing false information. Y’all know how things go around here

I just opted that it might be a possibility that RAM is expandable.

I’m really not into computer technology, but is it possible for a computer or a Machine + to disk stream VI’s?

Expanding the RAM could be possible and yes NI could preload small bits into RAM and then stream rest from the disk. This is what they would need to do, to support those large VI. NI is really software company first, so porting some of their Kontact library should be easy for them.

I'm still waiting on MPE.

:hmmm: :hmmm:
I guess I'm one of the few that uses the touchscreen every single time I use the live?!?!?
But I do agree its not a big deal in this case.

Several years ago I was one of the people screaming for a touchscreen on an MPC, but I feel the eventual implementation is disappointing. There's some obvious stuff they were always going to include like waveform editing and XYFX, but alot of the UI is really fiddly, (especially grid edit), many of the onscreen buttons across the UI are too small, and the mixer is just a completely missed opportunity. And they've skipped really obvious touch UI stuff like 'dragging' to rearrange tracks etc.

So IMO a lack of touchscreen isn't a dealbreaker, I'd be more interested in comparing the actual workflow and overall ergonomics.

But it is good that NI have finally got this off the ground and it does seem like a completely different proposition to the MPC in many respects.

I suspect some of the issues with the MPC touch screen implementation are due to the limits of the hardware... though saying that it does sound like an excuse to what is really a poor user experience regardless of the reason. Drawing midi notes, cutting/pasting, sample editing, chop editing, etc... are all just a bit too finicky and persnickety. It's just hard to tell if it is "working as designed" or a poor imitation of what they were trying to implement.

What you said is valid. Im trying to figure out why they didn't do 8 outs.

I'll just see who the buyers really are.

Oh yeah a lot of false sh** is said around here!

If the Ram is expandable l hope there is info about. That would be dope for users.

Yes it should be able to disk stream.
