Hi there,

I am using the Ensoniq ASR X Pro for quiet some while now.
I am saving on ZIP discs and currently there appeared an annoying error.

The ASR can´t load the .mfb files anymore. So i can´t load the full sessions files without trouble.
I got around the problem by loading the single files and then saving the newly arranged song as an session file.... on a new disc.
BUT the same message when i am trying to load again and again... "can´t load .mfb or .sbx!!!

I am getting crazy! I can´t continue working on my projects...

Thanks,
Ferdinand

When I use the main outs of my ASR-10, the left main out will only play the drums and the kick replaces the snare, so it sounds like a bunch of kicks and hi-hats (I'm running the main outs to the inputs on my Mbox 2). The right output plays the sample and the drums perfectly. -EDIT- Here's the weird part; when I run a cable from the headphone jack on the ASR into the two inputs on the Mbox 2, it's the same problem. This is something I can work around by just taking the audio from the right output, but I'm wondering if anybody else has had this problem or know how to fix it?

edit: also, for what it's worth, there's a piece of yellow tape just below the output that doesn't work indicating that one of the previous owners may have been aware of the problem..

This is officially the best ASR-10 thread in existence in the absence of any active Ensoniq forums.

yo quick question-

seeing as http://www.scsiforsamplers.com is now out of business, and i just bought a scsi cf card reader from them a few weeks ago (i don't need it, i thought i could use it but i don't have internal scsi...) how much would you recommend selling it for? a forum member (zork) hit me up about buying it and im ready to sell it but i don't know how much i should sell it for. im looking to be reasonable and fair, i wouldn't try and charge a lot extra just because scsiforsamplers is now out of business and they're hard to find. but i got it as a christmas present, and i don't know the exact cost (i just know it was around 200 bucks), and so i'm wondering how much i could sell it for... the higher the better though. if its actually rare now and i could get more money for it than scsiforsamplers sold it for, i'm open to that. just keep in mind i'm not trying to exploit that.

anyone who knows is welcome to answer this, BESIDES zork...

I noticed today something weird when sampling into my ASR-10. It seems that the stereo signal is a little bit off to the left channel. When my source is +0.25 right in Wavelab, i can notice that the sampling material is +0.17 left. I got ws right pan to +99 and ws left pan to -99 so it should it be a perfect copy, right?

I'm sampling from a PC (wav file) going to line in in the ASR... Is my sampler damaged or is this some peculiarity of sampling from analog signal to digital in the ASR?

Thanks for any help with that.

I already went to two different libraries and used two different floppy drives and both said that the file was too big at 1588 KB. Obviously it's not too big for one HD floppy so something is up. My point is that I've tried that and my original request is still in need of fulfillment. Thanks.

So, I'm still looking for an ASR-10 OS disk, if anyone could mail me one I would appreciate it.

PS I used to play Zork on Commodore 64 all the time, if that is where your user name is from.

zork wrote:drunk --> I already bought it from another vendor, but im sure you won't have problems with selling it.

cool, how much do you think i should sell it for? i don't need to make a profit. it was a christmas gift, so i'll be selling it and giving the money back to my parents. but if its true that since scsiforsamplers is out of business and these are now rare, i'd be willing to sell it for more than they bought it for. shit i just remembered i already wrote all of this above. so yeah i'm just asking what a good price would be? and do you think it'd be best to sell it on ebay?

I've been having a problem with my ASR-10 lately. Whenever I copy a Wavesample and change the pitch so I can chop it up across the keyboard, the previous WS plays in Mono. The new WS plays in stereo. I think just a few days ago the old WS played in stereo but the volume sounded a lot lower. Now it seems it plays in Mono though. Prior to this, never had any problems chopping samples up. Any advice? Thanks..

edit:
So this is really weird. I made a half-ass attempt at opening up the bottom to hopefully find something so obviously wrong that even I could fix the problem. I wasn't even able to take the bottom panel off. I was able to pry it open an inch and blew some air in hoping to get any dust out. While putting all the screws back in I noticed a screw that I think I forgot to take out which is probably the reason I couldnt get the bottom panel off. Anyway, I did a shit job putting everything back together and I've got a handful of screws that won't fit b/c the bottom isn't aligned. However, the main outs now play all the chops back in stereo; the headphone jack still plays it back in mono. It's good enough for me, but if anyone has any other advice I'm all ears.

Yo, has anyone ever had a File OP Error 040 on the ASR. The manual says its a bad ESP Error. Ive done some reading on other sites and there are a few posts on this but no solid answer.
