NI MASCHINE - constantly upgrading. (Ver. 1.6)

Couple things i would like to know before considering!

Does maschine have simult pad?? - where one pad controls multiple pads at the same time.

Does maschine have global edit? - say i chop a sample in eight pieces and i wanna filter them or pitch em up or down! do i have to do it 1 by 1? of can i edit all 8 slices at once??

Can i use Reason 4 or any of my softsynths together with my maschine sequences at the same time? or do i have to track the maschine audio and add my other soft synths later?

Everything else seems like a go! if i can do all the above then i think imma sell my MPC 1000 and grab this piece.

Pads can't be linked if that's what you mean.

Slices are part of one sound or part of one group (multiple sounds). If they are part of one sound, then all edits (tune, effects, etc) to that one sound will apply to all the slices. If they are part of a group (this way you can apply different effects to the slices, assign the slices to different outputs, etc), then you can use the group tune and group effects. But of course those will also apply to other sounds in that same group.

Do you already use those softsynths in a DAW that ReWires to Reason? Then I'd use Maschine inside the DAW instead of standalone.

For sure. But since I am not the only MPC user that has purchased one, I am hoping that they really create some useful threads and no more advertisements.

While I wait for Maschine to arrive, I am going over the sample chopping functions in the manual and the online videos. I challenge anyone to do the same and compare it with the JJ OS2XL. JJ OS wins out by a long shot in this regard.

Likewise...and I am not interested in hearing your music to be honest. But I am interested in adding Maschine to my "gear collection." And I am an MPC expert.

EDIT: Actually I heard a rumor that there was some Askia Shaheed beats uploaded into "my music" section like a year ago. When I went there, the files where no longer available. I honestly believe it was a set up.

I just tried. I'm not sure how many slices you can add, but I could keep clicking the Add button (which divides the selected slice in half) so many times that the size of the slices didn't even make sense anymore, that small. So you can go much further than 32.

Knowing your gear and making music are two different things. You can be one hell of an engineer, but not much of an artist. Or the other way around.

Me neither, but I'd be interested in seeing some MPC tricks from a decade old MPC expert. You should know your mpc in and out and make some shit with it making one ask, how the hell he do that ?

If you don't know how to use an MPC, but do know how you want to put the samples together, then ask someone like Askia to operate the MPC for you.

Of course you should know as much as possible about your gear if you want to do it all yourself. But knowing your gear at expert level doesn't automatically mean you make great music. Making great music doesn't automaticaly mean you know your gear at expert level either.

But we're getting way off topic now. My point is, I don't need to hear Askia's music to recognize he's an MPC expert.

I never questioned quality of his music did I?...I question validity of a decade old MPC expert...what qualifies him? what does he use all that gear for when there is no music coming out...

That is good news. Then NI should just get rid of the preset fixed numbers (4, 8, 16, 32) and allow you to just dial in the number you need.

For anyone not up to speed on any of the various MPCs, create a thread or send me a PM. Like always, I will be happy to share my knowledge as an expert as I have for numerous years.

I heard an askia beat... it wasn't my style.. kind of RnB-ish if I remember correct. But the beat was well made and it had good instrumentation. People who are into those smoother hip hop beats would have liked it.

basically what i mean is, askia isn't just a gear collector, he actually knows how to make quality stuff... I think the beat he made was done on the mpc5000 and one of the fantom keyboards if I'm not mistaken.

I understand it opens up pgm's, but can it load APS files? .ALL files? And even when it opens a pgm file, does it "remember" the MPC settings (filters, tuning, etc.)?

I have couple of questions to emptysea or other Maschine experts:

1. How easy is the process of taking a stereo sample and turning it into mono? (this means I want to preview both first and then decide which one to go with.)

2. Does maschines 16-level function go above the 16 pads? Can I get them to go like 64 notes when changing bank? And I assume this feature works with Midi keyboard hooked on aswell?
