I want an SP 1200 but damn!!

I figured out a way to sequence midi instruments with the SP1200... maybe cats already knew about this, but i thought i'd share my findings anyway...

The problem with connecting midi instruments to the SP via midi is that any sequenced pads of the SP will trigger the other midi devices, so if you have a drumloop playing on the SP, those drums will trigger the according midi notes of the instruments... so sequencing via midi is not an option.

What works however, is if you synch an MPC to the SP using the metronome out of the SP and connecting it to the sync IN of the MPC (in my case i use the MPC60, don't know if it works with other models). In the MPC60 when pressing the "Tempo/SYNC" button you can select an option that tells the MPC to sync to the metronome click of the SP. After doing this, you can connect and sequence your midi devices with the MPC60 (SP1200 acting as master for BPM/run/stop)...

Maybe this will help somebody like me who had no idea how to sequence synths with the SP1200.

Didn't know about that method, I slave my sp to my mpc via MTC, midi clock... or whatever that stuff is called.

Oh wells... things fell thru with the MPC 60. paid cat and he never shipped. took me a month to get a refund. Thanks goodness for PayPal. Anyways... I guess the search continues. lesson: if its looks too good to be true it probably is...

Thats to bad man, good thing you got your cash back though. whenever that ish happens to me im always left wondering what the story is...

But its all good, whenever this happens your always really glad it worked out the way it did a few months down the line when something better shakes out.

Yeah man... sucks. but at least I got the lott back. something will come along when the time is right. I thought I had gifted myself a really dope xmas present though.

Wow. I see $2200-$2400 over here. Actually there isn't a single SP1200 on the US eBay at the moment. So either a couple are getting re-listed or a couple people are $2200 poorer.

It seems my countrymen are taking their pricing cues from the UK listings.

I had actually missed those listings simply by putting the hyphen in E-MU and no hyphen in SP-1200.
All that came up was a coffee mug (kinda dope actually), and an SP-12 iPad case of all things.

He seems to be shouting about the "PERFECT" condition, but there's no mention of having the unit serviced recently or it being from a smoke-free environment.

Half the time I see "smoke free" my first thought is "this dude was blowing tree smoke on that joint for 10 years I bet."

Fair point you'd want him to mention that though if (truthfully) applicable.

It's a black so it's from '97 which is a big plus. The final re-issues have a different Curtis filter chip when the originals ran out, I've seen a few sellers list the serial number so that can be looked up.

That's true!

When you've bought gear that smells like an ashtray, it's good to avoid it if you can! It seems like the SP benefits massively from being re-capped, so to get that done is going to take this one over 2 grand.
