They are ridiculous with thier prices. I was going to buy from them $50 for 2 sticks of 4MB RAM for my ASR-10. :fku:
I found and bought 4 sticks of 4MB RAM at an online computer store for $3 a stick!!!! :smoker:

Original Ensoniq CD rom sound libraries do come up on eBay from time to time, same applies to sound banks on floppy. Bang for buck you get a lot more instruments from the CD libraries, which obviously requires you to have SCSI. ASR10 library is good for your ASR-X if you have one. I think the ASR-10 loads EPS 16 instruments too. A regular worldwide search on eBay will let you see what's out there.

I'm trying to buy an analog board for my ASR10 (kbrd) from Syntaur, but I'm awaiting a reply to my emails. I'll give them another few days, but I'm not sending any money blind without confirming they have the stock etc.

I'm an ASR10 keyboard owner from way back when they were first released, but after a few years of storage she's developed a post-sample distortion on EVERY instrument, audio bus, dry effetcs etc - but ONLY on the left channel.

It's been driving me nuts not being able to hear the supurb stereo effects as I have to pan everything to the right channel in order to hear a clean sound :(

But I've got 20 years worth of samples, sequences and banks that I just don't want to loose. If I can get an analog board from Syntaur (possibly a jack board too case it's the faulty component), and if it fixes the post distortion problem then the next step will be a compact flash SCSI drive to backup my ageing fleet of SyQuest EZ 135MB cartridges...

If all that comes to plan, then I can possibly get to work on using some of the many ASR software solutions (a la chicken) to get some sweet additions to my library.

Will let you know how things pan out.

Peace...

clint, you're noticing sinking prices...where do you think the price will end? i'm pretty interested in the one that's up now, but i also have patience...

This past year I've seen more ASR-10's for sale here than ever, even with SCSI £300 or so is all it takes.

See my point here. ASR-10 KB with SCSI = £274.99. Now is the time to buy, but not sell.

Bugger...someone has read my post above & scored the last analog board for the ASR keyboard that Syntaur had available for sale.....

I should've kept it quiet until I hit the ORDER NOW button :(

I was on the page ready to order it last week, but wasn't sure if the distortion issue might also be caused by a faulty analog jack board. So I'm wasting 3-4 days trying to contact Syntaur about what they suggest (seeing as I'm shipping half way around the world to AUS!!).

But by the time they came back to me & said they don't like getting into diagnostics of hardware, some dirty little ASR fan has got his mitts on the last analog board they had for sale!

Back to the waiting list for now, my poor ASR is back to a mono synth until we can find another board.

PS - Slightly off topic, but after spending 10 years sequencing on the ASR, I went to Cubase instead. Is it still the best software for midi sequencing? I read a LOT of good posts about using MPC as a midi sequencer too. I love REASON, but we all know about the midi out capabilities of that little gem.

hey there,

have a question.

how can i setup different effects to instruments on my ASR10.

I RTFM, i understand the Effects Concept (only one effect loaded, effects cant run simultaneously etc.)

Every time when i load Kits from AWAVE Studio, a Reverb on it.

When i press FX Button, i can change to OFF; INST; BANK; ROM;

What theses Values do i know. So when i set to INST the appropiate effect of the Instrument will be loaded. But HOW can i change it?

I found out (shortly before i write this) to step to EDIT-AMP Page??

Does any1 know wether the the ASR's Main Output is balanced or unbalanced jacks?

I searched both the entire musician's manual and the service manual but they don't even tell you any technical specs. :hmmm:

say i got a kick on c4 and i wanna resample it with effects to c3 how can i do it

the same way you would normally sample, except have 'main-out' selected. in the option when you first click sample

then select the instrument you are sampling from and sample it.

it will ask you if you want to make a new layer and you do. i'm not sure whether you can sample back into the same instrument within the same layer, i don't think you can

does anyone know if i can re-save my OS onto my scsi device?

I'm sure i've done it before but can't seem to work it out now

the only way i can see doing it now is using 'copy OS to disk' then asks to insert master disk (floppy). saving OS onto floppy, re-formatting scsi and copying the OS back on to it.

i'm sure theres a way of doing this that doesn't involve re-formatting my scsi or using a floppy.

anyone got an idea?

thanks

Can someone please explain how to use an ASR-10 and an MPC 60 together via midi?

i've read all the previous posts on this already, so don't bother linking me to any.

I've got the cables hooked up handshake style. on the MPC, midi and channel 1A are selected. on the ASR midi page, multi is selected. the instrument tracks are using midi tracks of the same number...basically, i followed the directions outlined in this post:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=123977

i know the cables aren't broken because i've had the ASR/MPC hooked up before and had the MIDI almost working. ASR instruments would play when i hit the MPC pads, though it would trigger more than one instrument at once. but now i can't figure out how i did it.

this doesn't seem to be as easy and straightforward as everyone makes it sound...
