S950 - mute notes

Hi,
I ve set the 950 to have some instruments like bases and pianos in big keygroups set to their own midi channel + drumsamples on another midi channel.

Now when i have Chord playing from the piano or so, is there a way i can stop the polyphone sound via midi or at least to mute it at a certain intervall.

so i search something like the Cutoff Note option there is for the MPC60

if you have two sounds going to the same output channel 1-8, playing one will cut off the other.....so you could have a blank sound routed to same output channel as piano and this will mute it, so to speak

yes but a piano chord is build of many at least two notes at the same time, so it consists of layered sounds which cannot come out of only one output.

so i can stop one note of the chord by doing this. but it gets complicated because i dont set the piano keygroup to one of the 8 outputs but to the mix out, because i want to have polyphony, i dont know how the s950 maps the notes to the single outputs.

i mean the mix is just a mix of the 8 outs, so every output from 1 to 8 has one sound goin... but which sound will be on which channel?

First, I don't understand the problem. If you release the key or the pad the sample should stop so there is no need to cut them.

But for the polyphony thing I would recommend to route the piano sound to either R or L out because each of these outs are four times polyphonic and represents the outs 1-4 (for L) and 5-8 (for R) if I remember rcorrectly. The piano will use only these 4 outs and the other 4 outs can be used for the other samples.

or you can do something tricky... keep the sounds on different midi channels you can control master volume for each channel by sending cc7.
