picked up a cheap s900 recently, unlike my S950 it has the 8 audio IN expansion which I think is just extra triggers that you can link up to foot pedals etc etc.

anyone using this expansion for anything useful? I was thinking about taking it out and just flogging it...

It's a cool expansion for the 900

You can basically use it to trigger samples with just about anything you can wire a jack to.

Light sensors
Motion sensors
Other instruments
Microphones

Great fun for geeky stuff!
I had my 900 playing drums using converted motion activating air fresheners.

I dunno - just can't see myself using it - tempted to stick it in my S950 though just so can call it 'maxed out' HA!

where 8 air fresheners part of your live rig? :-D

It's not compatable with the 950 so I wouldn't recommend that mate!

Hahahaha can you imagine a club full of people watching Mr Airwick!

In all fairness I had them set up like an invisible drum kit to play 8 drum samples, so it would be a pretty good crowd pleaser!

are you sure? s950 has the same removable panel like there should be a expansion in the same position - unless thats for the SCSI expansion board, but the panel seems to big even for 50 pin.

There was a separate audio trigger interface for the S950, but it was a 1U rack unit. I think it was called the ME35T off the top of my head.

There is some info on audio triggers in the customisation/ DIY forum.

Hi there guys,

I recently picked up an S900 with the ASK90 trigger expansion installed but have had no luck getting any input into it. Hoping someone around here might be able to offer some advice.

The card registers fine in the machine (under utilities) and I am able to navigate the menus and make adjustments. My issue is that I get no response on the metering page (or via my MIDI indicator light) when I feed audio to any of the 8 channels.

I have enabled the inputs by turning the 'drum triggering on' in the utilities menu, I have tried adjusting thresholds to minimum and maximum values, adjusted the source input to various ranges of volume, tried different inputs..to no avail.

I am assuming the last metering menu in utilities should be giving me an indication of trigger input relative to the thresholds assigned. My bar simply appears solid (with or without input) and I can move the threshold indicator (the # symbol) left and right with no effect.

I tried re-seating the card in the machine but that didnt change anything. I have also swapped the card into another s900 to see if it was the machine itself, but this did not change anything.

Is this typically a 'plug and play' experience with the ASK90 for most users? Am I missing some settings?

If there is a more seasoned vet that could drop some knowledge on this issue, I would be forever in your debt.

Thanks!

Hey guys,

Still no luck with this.

I am not getting any response when I input sound on any of the channels.

I've attached a picture of what my screen looks like.

Is it common for a black bar to fill the level detection/threshold screen? It does this even when I do not have anything plugged in. Could this be some kind of internal hum or fault?

The default values i've been using are:

Drum trigger :ON (in the first utility menu)
Sensitivity: 1 - Low (tried switching to 2-High, didnt make a difference).
Input: 8
Gain: 50
Trig threshold: 20

The only time I see a registered change is when i drop the Gain to 1 (lowest) and then scroll the thresh (# sign) back and forth at the end of the black bar displayed across the screen. When i do that, my midi indicator flashes, but my sound input has no bearing on this.

any assistance would be gratefully appreciated. Im stumped.

thanks!
