new korg KP3 + AND kaossilator pro + .. what's the deal?

A kp3 has been on the list for a while now.. always been a fan of the kp2 which I have.. but I haven't gotten around to grabbing the 3 yet. Someday I will..

now, sorry if it's a late pass.. but korg released a plus version of the kp3 and the kaossilator pro? WTF did they add that couldn't have been done with an update? 150 effects instead of 128? (maybe different effects replacing some of the old ones.. but it looks like they added a scratch vinyl one and some ducking/sidechaining type bpm effect.. ) I think longer sample time maybe but im not sure... ?

Im not sure that I find this cool.. maybe they could have simply updated the regular kp3? Or is there something different hardware wise?

as for the kaossilator pro +.. I dont care about that at all really.


I think they should have made a kp4 instead with more effects.. more samples loaded (more slots).. the ability to run several effects at once like the kp quad.. midi through with the in and out.. phono preamp like the kp2, bigger xy touch surface with 0.5 intervals instead of 1.0 intervals... every knob being a 360 rotary encoder controllable via midi (including the wet/dry) and each of the 4 effects having it's own dedicated knob... that would be a power house kaoss pad IMO.. but making what at first glance looks to be a software update and counting it as an entirely new machine seems like total BS IMO if there is no hardware changes.

side note: does the kp3 or kp2 do anthing similar to this? its built for running audio through like this isnt it? couldnt i just run my beats through it live and get an effect similar to this while recording it into logic or something?

the kaoss pads have different effects, and more effects. the kp2 has 100 programs, the kp3 has like 130.. and the kp3+ has like 150.... most of the programs are effects.. you'll get like 10 reverbs, 10 bpm effects, 10 delays, 10 synth sounds and drums, 10 vocoders, etc... usually in groups of 10.

the kp3, not sure on the sample time.. but it can make only 4 samples I think... probably you can sample 20-30 seconds for each sample if I had to guess.. I dont know 100% though. The kp2 has 2 sample slots and you can sample like 6 or 8 seconds on each.. but you cant save them like you can on the kp3. The reason for sampling on those is to run a sound through an effect while resampling..

on the sp404 you have 12 pads.. with banks.. you have a sequencer, less effects but you can trim your samples.. it's more of a sampler with effects... and the kp2 and kp3 are effects units that have a bit of sampling thrown in. On both the sp and kp you can run an external device's audio through the effects.
