korg kaoss pad and mpc

anyone use these together?

if so, do you warp your whole mix usually, or just a certain track? do you find you have to manually line it up in your DAW later if your doing it track by track?

i guess im just wondering how the best way would be to use it in a studio/creation setting rather than a live setting.

resampling with the fx is the only thing i can really think of, but the start and end points of something that is re sampled in the mpc might not be perfect. i suppose that might be the only way to use this with your mpc in a production type setting though.

i want the dj fx stutter type stuff, so the kaoss pad quad looks cool, but the kp3 looks like it still has more options, and even midi i/o, which is dope.

also, something pretty cool about the kaoss pad mini, you can just load up mp3 songs and effect them, so that would be a cool way you could get some fx and stuff going for a dj mix.

I was interested in the newer version of the kp3 (the kp3+ i think it's called)

and the other day I saw the newer version of the mini kp.. I think it's the mini kp2.. that one looks WAY better than the old mini kp.


I use a kp2 but only with the mpc60 because it has an effect send and return. I don't bother tracking pair by pair into a daw through the kaoss pad because if I were to do that, I might as well use pluggin fx in the daw instead.

the mpc60 has a send and return? so you can use it in real time with the 60, track by track?

i got the quad and its on my line out, so it just serves as a real time.. i mostly use the beat repeat and the filter..

yeah, the beat repeat, thats what i want, so you can do like glitch effects and stuff inflict?

do you find it harder to make it usable in your DAW in a studio setting? or do you just use it to play with live?

ah.. well I tend to use it for reverb... so there is only one physical send return (it's called echo, it does mono output, and the return is stereo) anyhow, you choose your effect, and in the mpc there is a mixer screen where you can turn it up for each pad. you can also turn down the pad's regular volume in the normal mixer screen to lower the dryness of that pad.

i mainly just use it live, and sometimes i get a cool idea from it and recreate the same type of effect in reason, but it is hella sweet doing a filter sweep and a glitch effect at the same time with a touch pad

that send/return is **** amazing, i wish they had that on the newer models, i didnt even know that they had it for the 60 and 3k.

i want it mainly for glitching shit and an outboard reverb box. i suppose i could run my track through it, and manually effect it while recording into logic, and manually line it up after the fact.
alternately, i guess i could use it as the last chain of my track, and just run full mixes of my beats through it, but i more want to use it as a creation tool, and it seems kinda hard to do that, i suppose if i ran it from a send and return on my DAW i might have better luck that way.

Don't the newer models allow live monitoring of the inputs, and if so, can't you send to an external effect using the individual outputs, and return to the stereo inputs, monitoring it live and mixed in with your other MPC sounds in the same way as the MPC60 send/return?

Only the MPC60 has the send/returns, not the MPC3000.
