Hi all,

I'm someone who eats up the 128mb of sample memory on my mpc1000 really quickly with 2-4 bar loops, and I've been looking for a simple, affordable solution for a while now. I hope to simply trigger the longer loop samples via MIDI on an external device.

I've been scoping out the mpx8, but slow load times and only 32mb of memory worries me. Plus, I don't need the pads. However it might do the trick if nothing else is around.

I just want a box with MIDI in and thru, stereo out, and a fair amount of memory and storage, okay load times, and stereo sample playback. USB connectivity is a bonus for swapping files. It seems like such an obvious thing: basically an external memory expansion module for MPCs. But I have so much trouble finding something that will serve this purpose.

This is for live performances, and computers are just not an option for me. I refuse to rely on them or have glowing screens on stage.

Thanks for any help!

Great. The z4/8 sounds great, and decently priced... well a pretty great price for 24/96. Maybe it is overkill for me, and I was hoping for something more practical in size; I don't find the thought of bringing a rackmount around very appealing, but that's okay. I'll have to save for a couple months and hope to get a good deal on one of those. Maybe I'll try the mpx8 for the shows I have coming up and then give it to a musician in need when I'm done with it :)

Thanks
