Enoniqs are Tanks. I used to have a Mirage and ESQ1; both were solid like communist steel. I used them for controllers as well and they were the best at that job compared to my recent controller (as well as all the new/modern plastic built controllers/keyboards these days), which flexed, creaked, couldn't lie perfectly flat on a table, etc., etc.
On a similar experience, I too moved very recently and UPS broke my plastic pos Studiologic controller in 2 pieces (keybed completely dislodged and ripped from the frame). Now, that, was a pos; Ensoniqs, not.
Vintage keyboards of the 80s and 90s sold for thousands brand new, and the quality and build shows...vs, a new keyboard controller which sell for only a few hundo brand new. I prefer vintage for this reason alone and will never use/buy another modern plastic controller again; I learned my lesson.
I just bought and use an old 90s Roland rompler for a controller and it's wonderful having something solid again.
