that thing sounds good, never tried one of those. How is the sequencing in your opinion compared to the xl? Also, how are the effects?

I had a Yamaha Su700 for a few months I will try split my comment into two, “pros” and “cons”.

Pros:
• Very nice sampler and very easy to use. You can get a very nice lo-fi sound
• Effects from the Yamaha A-sampler series, which works very fine and you can trick them real-time.
• Eq and filter tweaking real-time.
• Very nice display and good if you use it for live in darker environment.

Cons:
• The unit is a bit slow when it comes to loading (Charm about older units) ;)
• You cannot build up a song with sequences as you can on other units. Or well that’s not true, you can use “Free” pads and “Marker”. Or you can use “Composed Loop” and then example assign drum sounds to the “Composed Loop” section. Example have four different loops and then use “Scene” to mute on/off. However I found it a bit frustrating :/
• The knobs and pads are known for dying over years because you use them a lot and the parts should not be easy to get home.

Even though I'm paying off a MPC25k, I'd still kind of like to grab this one too. A little redundant I guess, but still, it looks like a decent sampler/drum machine/looper. It would be interesting to master/slave them with midi, or maybe route some of the outputs of the 25k into the SU700. (shrugs). I'm not worried about finding one now, but maybe someday.

:P
