I recently bought an SP505 to add to my collection. I got it for dirtcheap and I initially bought this little piece for effect processing. But i'm getting more and more interested in using this little piece to its full affect.
So i've been reading the manual back and forth, watching Olby's videos on Youtube and I've been wandering around on the SP boards, but I still have some questions.. (A lot of people on the SP boards are moving very slowly. lol.)
1. When setting you sample to phrase, the BPM of the sample automatically adjust to the BPM of the sequencer. I want to change the BPM of the sample manually and play it on top of the sequencer. This is not possible, cause you can't change the bpm of a sample when it's set to single. And when its set to phrase it automatically changes to the BPM of the seq.
Is this only possible via Resampling. (sample set to phrase -> adjust bpm of sample -> resample -> set new sample to single)
2. Poly/Mono/Sample Cut Off. You can set your sample play to DRUM, TRIGGER or GATE. I want to use the DRUM mode (one shot) and use other samples on pads to cut the previous played sample off. I can't seem to find this option. Is this only emulatable by using the sample in GATE mode and and just trying to cut it off at the right time.
3. How do you guys use your SP:
- Sample in SP and then sample in the MPC.
- MIDI up the SP with the MPC
- Use the resample function of the MPC and send the audio/sample/track through the SP back into the MP?
- Other...?
