im thinking it would be cool to go midi out of my mpc, to midi in of the novation launchpad, then i could have my samples all right in front of me, sometimes when i have chops over 4 banks, it would be easier to just have them all in one big sheet of pads.

it would be even more awesome if the drumpads were mpc style, but i suppose it isnt that big of a deal, as long as they could trigger well enough.

anyone seen anything like this before? or would it be super hard to convert a launchpad to have a midi port?

Yes, take 3 MPDs, DIY hack them together into a single control surface, plug them into your MPC MIDI input.

Something like others do with joining APCs together...

But there are programmable MIDI pad/button control surfaces, not sure how they compare in terms of playable pads like the MPC, maybe have a look at the Livid products.

No, reverse that.

You want the pad/controller MIDI OUT to your MPC MIDI IN.

Then assign the controllers pads/banks to MPC note numbers.

I did this with an SP12 because I hated the rock hard trigger buttons.

ahh ok, i was trying to visualize it in my head without connecting it.

the livid boxes have too many extra buttons, but if they had one with just that sheet of pads that functioned like an mpc style pad it would be cool. i think im just gonna have to do without, or go with a keyboard controller if i want to do this.

Whats wrong with using MPD's.

Your MPC has MIDI in's, right?
