I like my volca. It was inexpensive so I can't diss it.
However it needs one thing. I hope KORG updates the OS so that it can do this one thing.
It either needs to be able to be connected to another volca so that it becomes 32 steps.
OR
they should have a button on one that allows it to toggle the 16 steps so that you can have an additional 16 steps. (Part A and part B if you will)
THat would be awesome.
Watching the video with the sample version looks cool and all but the sample repeating so much is annoying.

The electribe sampler has my interest.
Love the export to ableton.
Also supports different pattern lengths for different tracks for polyrhythms.
Ie:
Track 1: 16 step
Track 2: 9 step
Track 3: 35 step
Very cool!!
Also the sync out for syncing up the volcas is dope. An electribe sequencing a volca bass and volca keys could be very cool. Have your samples on the electribe with analog bass

I was just coming here to post about the exact same things. They look awesome buuuuuuut I'm kind of worried about the Volca Sampler and having to use it's iOS program (as someone who doesn't own anything iOS) to transfer samples. I hope you can do this over MIDI... even if it just takes longer!
Anyway - all of these things look fun. Korg is really pushing it out there right now. Maybe a bit "toy-like" for some people but I think the interface is actually inviting. Don't want to scare people off before they even touch yo sh*t!

I still have the first electribe bass synth (blue and silver) and I still like it a lot... mine is screwed up and resets when you push one or two of the rubber buttons... but I still sometimes do some live shit with it haha.

I do not understand what the problem is. Just load saved patterns on the fly. You can rearrange and combine the patterns and get a lot more mileage than 32 steps.
