S950 - Random Input level

Hey
I've got a question regarding the S-950 about the input (level) for recording.
The input level seems to vary every time i trigger the sound to sample in the 950.

Dynamics and volume of the 'original' sound is constant, no variations there. But every time i trigger the sound, the input level seems random in the 950 (never constant as you suppose it would). Sometimes it clips, sometimes it comes in very softly.
Sampling a snare for instance: It's always a surprise how loud it will be sampled.


Does anybody know why this keeps happening or is something broke in the machine?

Have you tried cleaning the input jack with some compressed air and a little deoxit or equivalent?

hey man, just out of curiosity, have you got the 8 outputs all plugged in to a mixer?

I'm using only output 1 + 2 thats connected to a vs880.. Sadly the tip of a jackplug is stuck in the mix outputs.. any suggestions to remove a stuck jack tip?

I'm not sure if there's enough room. But try using a pair of tweezers.

The cleaning seems to have done it's job. Much more control over incoming signals now

I have mixed feelings about the tweezer part though.. still willing to try one day!

Use a match with a bit of superglue on the tip..
Glue it to the jack tip thats stuck. (be careful to not touch the sides)
Wait...... and pull it out

I see.. will give that a try. I tried to remove a tip from an old cable to see how it will fit, but ofcourse it wont come out only when jacked into gear
