ASR X

Hey guys!

About to buy a ASRX for a reasonable price, but I got a couple of questions..
I've owned a Asr-10 about 10 years ago but didn't had the time to really learn it.

Sound wise, does it sound as good as the 10?
The different Lo-Fi modes on the asr-10 and it's wonderful sound was great as I remember. It's a better fit for the x in the studio right now..
Thinking about running thru it to some of my other sampers.

Anything I should think about?

I cannot speak for the sound as I haven’t make a direct comparison, but I could imagine that the ”effects processor” is quite similar

Nevertheless I still hate the sequencer on Ensoniq ASR-X

The ASR-X has the same sound engine as the ASR-10, so yes it sounds the same.

I have and use both

It doesnt sound the same

they are similar in sound but not exactly the same. the asrx sounds cleaner than the asr10. same general area but cleaner. it is a great sounding sampler. the 10 is also great but slighy more lo fi, but not lo fi compared to a 950 or 1200. x will load asr10 patches, which is cool. it has similar effect to the asr10. the X has, in my experience a very wack sequencer (but were at mpc-forums so you prob got that covered) and it has tons of sample time but be sure you have the scsi option or your screwed. same is true about the 10.

Did you ever notice that what you sequence does not sound the same when it's being played back?

It's that legendary ASR-X swing!

Just plugged my ASR-X back up for the first time in atleast 2years. I must say ive missed it! It so nice to have onboard fx and sounds in the box
