Akai S950 Question About Memory

I am a bit confused about what is going on with my S950. Upon start up it says 1024 kwords installed. I started sampling many drum samples, saving periodically. After about 48 samples I realized that I only have 450ms of sample time left but when I push the Disc button , it says that I have only used 40% of system memory. Am I missing something here? Seems I should have much more sample time.

I think it might be this: if you sample replacing an existing sound, you can only sample the length of that sound. So this would happen if you want to replace a drum element by a long sample. You better rename a sound for sampling, and then change your program to trigger the new sound.

Thanks! That was exactly what was wrong. Looks like I have a good bit of memory left.
