akai s900

I bought an s900 not too long ago and was pretty stoked. I've been using it to give my drums a little more character as well as storing kits. I initially used the sampler to trigger sounds via midi but it was just impractical and the timing is pretty bad. Also, I didn't like how every sound was set to note variation on my sequencer (MPC2XL). I haven't messed around with the X fade or whatever and all those other features yet, but I have been making programs. Its a long process but its comforting to know that all my sounds can be accessed by the push of a button.

Thanks for taking the time to hear me geek out on my gear. The experts'll probably flame me (primarily on the fact that this must be the 12384124 post about s900's but anyone care to share some of their experiences with this sampler?

I loved my s900 and later s950 and miss it big time (prob just gearlust tho) but i loved to distort things in it, record stuff too loud and see the effects. It sounds dope on drums and most other things.
But as you already said you're gonna have more luck if you search already existing threads.
