Can anyone tell me the difference between the S1000 and S1100?

Sound quality is the same?

I see the S1100 has a digital effects board - Is that the only difference? And if so can you buy one of those and put it in a s1000 to make it at S1100?

Is that 10% for the on-board effects? And everything else is the same?

Seem to be a lot more s1000's on eBay and hardly any s1100. I read that the s1100 has an icon reverb on the onboard effect

Thanks for the link. 24bit internal sampling and the effects onboard seem to be the main difference

Be careful. Some of these sellers have been taking the cards out of the S1100 and not noting that in the auction, to try to sell them to you separately. It's mainly these 2 Japanese sellers that are doing it but I've since seen others doing it as well.

I caught one idiot trying to pull a fast one on me for an S3000XL picturing the flashrom card was included but told me after I paid for it that it would not be included. I reversed the charges though. They also like to conveniently take out the ram cards as well and leave you with 2mb of ram which can't do much if you're trying to do anything other than drum hits. So yeah, be careful man.

Thanks for the heads up, I can't find an s1100 anyway... I think I'll pick up the s1000 but funny enough I did see the parts posts from Japan selling the s1100 effect board... I'd buy it if it would go in the s1000.

Apparently the s1100 has an iconic reverb, it used the motorola dsp 56000 chip for the on-boards effects, so maybe I'll look for an out board reverb unit that has that chip and see if I get lucky with the results

@Stakk and I think the S1100 came with the effects card installed standard which makes it even worse that these Japanese are trying to sell it separately. I guess business is business but it's still shady.

If you get an S1000, get os 4.4 with it - You and make a floppy easily or burn the eproms as well. I use my S1000 with Recycle over SCSI as well which is good if you have that option.

The only differences are the s1100 has effects and the 2track direct to disk recording.
There's also the s1100ex which is an s1100 with a blank front panel, intended to be used as an expand the s1100. People used to use several ex units to do multitrack hd recording
. If I'm not mistaken that's how butch big did the edits on Nirvana's smells like teen spirit. You can pick these up dirt cheap.

Both the s1000 and s1100 have the same ad\da circuits, which sound pretty unique as far a 16bit converters go.

I sold my s1000 , but I'd jump on a s1100 + s1100ex setup in a heartbeat.

Latest software versions are 4.3 for the s1100 and 4.4 for the s1000. You can find them on robin whittle's website http://www.firstpr.com.au
The main advantage of the latest firmware is that you can load s3000 format samples.

I have a chip burner, if anyone needs ROMs. I live in Turin, Italy. Send me a p.m.
