Holy crap I found my first keyboard!

Awe man, this little thing brings back memories. I have a lot nicer stuff now as an adult but for some reason I can't wait to turn this thing on and connect with the kid in me. My parents got it for me when i was 9 or 10, not wanting to spend much in case I didn't like it. I drove my sibblings insane with it. I used to plug it into a tapedeck, and dub my layers into the tapes swapping them each time i got a new layer i liked. This goofy little keyboard and my 1958 höfner colorama, was the start of it all for me. Sadly someone stole the höfner so no photo..

it's very star trek like heh. Sadly I am not getting it to turn on even after cleaning up the internals with alcohol. Back to the bench..

I have mixed relationship with the Casio MT-520 I had in the 80's and got lost in the sands of time: it was actually a perfectly good entry-level keyboard, but I hated how powerless I felt with it - I had no idea about anything, even about the existence of anything - even the very concept of recording, much less dubbing... Same with how useless I was at bicycle maintainance: with absolutely no one around me interested in it, I just had zero information. The Internet changed everything - now a beginner has every possibility immediately open. I liked the "funky clavi." and "synth sound" presets, and only learned twenty-five years later that the sound I craved was called subtractive synthesis !

I LOVE the sound of the 1980s Casio keyboards. I have a Casio PT-1, somewhere lost in this house.
