Tryed them both for a month

mpc 500, sold it after 6 months
mpc 1000, have it for more then a year
s900, have it for 9 months, now in my basement for spare parts
s950, 6 months and still sitting on my desk
S3000xl, 6 months sometimes use it for multi samples
Reunited with reason in my setup
mpc 2500 since a few months after too many buttons on my 1k died

So this was 2009...Was trying make everything work together for a while till 2012 I guess. Spent those years more on hooking things up and trying to make things work instead of doing beats. Then bought the Studio, sold the S3000XL and later the S950 when I needed some cash. Still regret it. Bought the MPC Live 2 years ago, sold it a year ago. Bought an SP404A and an MPC500 in March. Picked up an MPC1000 for cheap two months ago for at my girls’ place.

Dammm! 2012 is the same time l got rud of my hardware. Reason software saved me. Time went on and l went totally inside the box. I am now compact and love it like that.
Messed up you had to spend all that time trying to hook up things instead of makin music.

Yo l love the MPC 3000 Le, and MV8800/ 8000. You know why?

Has the VGA port on the back. Let me ask you, have you connected a larger screen to your MV8000? If so how you like it?

i never added a monitor on the mv8000. not a lot of room on my desk for monitor and mouse.
does it make a big difference? i don't feel anything lacking when using the built in screen on the mv, but how would i know if i've never used an external monitor.

by the time we had cabled everything up for a session, my mates would be too stoned and drunk to do much. that's why i love sampler workstations -- just one button to turn on and no cabling or synching to worry about. well, once you have sampled in the sounds you want to use, that is.

Ohhh snaps that's right you get a mouse also on that thing. That's dope. I was looking for Akai to do that.

I spent from 99' to 2012 on the Akai small screen. So when l saw that the MV8000 had a VGA port l was like dam.

Yeah its a huge advantage , if my memory serves me correctly when you add a large screen you get to see your tracks like a DAW. You get to see the tape head that scrolls, your bars etc. If l had a MV8000 l would connect a 27 incher to it. l have a 40 inch now. Everything is bigger l love it. I mean if you feel comfy using the small screen that's your right. Myself l would of taken advantage of the bigger screen and mouse control.

So, my first was the E-MU ESI 4000 Turbo. Bought it used in 2002.
Used it for about 10 years but drifted into software, because it was way quicker and easier…
I gave it to a friend who used it as a live instrument..
But recently I got it back and upgraded it with a SCSI2SD and a Gotek Floppy Emulator…
Anyway…
I used an MPC from a friend, but never had my own.

Then I bought the MPC Element. Upgraded to MPC Software 2.0
Sold the Element and bought a Studio.
Sold the Studio and bought a MPC Renaissance.
Recently I bought a MPC500 from a friend.
Also I use an Akai S700 from time to time...
