Roland SP-606
UbuntuStudio/KXstudio

my life now, got to make the best of it.

you absolutely must try Shuriken beat slicer.

thank you!! I’ve basically had my SP-606 midi'd to hydrogen and using
it like an mpc-2000 with hydrogen’s individual audio outs connected to ardour
through jack after passing through some effects plugs for color.

the biggest problem was easily loading my chops to hydrogen instruments.

I had been using beat-cleaver in wine, which wasn't ideal.

I was going to install Freecycle and found it was uninstallable because of age.
then you show me this and its like a fork of Freecycle...but more stable.

now I can chop and simply export to hydrogen drum kits and load them in
hydrogen.

hell yeah! thanks my dude! :worthy:

For a while, I've had to do with what was laying around so I started with :

- My dad's Amiga 2000 + Aegis AudioMaster (genuine 8bit lo-fi!!!!)
- SGI Indy workstation with built-in audio software (produced a whole track on it using only copy/paste/merge)
- Akai S1000/S1100 (in the studios I would hang around at…)
- Ensoniq EPS16+ (at my brother-in-law's)

Then the ones I really owned :
- E-mu Esi-32
- E-mu E6400 Ultra
- MPC1000
- MPC5000
- MPC Renaissance

Casio SK-1 (1987)
FL Studio (1998)
MPC-60 MK I
Emu Emax
Akai S-6000
Ensoniq ASR-10 Rack
Linn 9000 (borrowed for a while)
MPC-1000 JJ OS 2XL

Now only have the 1000 and emax, all others long gone. 1000 is my favorite sampler.

Mpc 2000xl (she was dying tho so unfortunately i had to sell her body parts on Ebay) :(

Sp 606 ( too lazy to learn - sold it ).

Sp 404 ( too lazy to learn - sold it ).

Mpc 500 ( never used it, sold it the other week ).

Just use FL studio and a broke Fantom now. I do fancy a 5000 or a 2500 tho

Hmmm, let's see...

Gemini DS 1224 - 1995, it's still somewhere in a box at my mom's
S2000 - 1996 my first piece of pro gear
MPC2000 - 1997 saved up forever to get it
Used the S2K & MPC2K until around 2003 when I switched to the computer & Kontakt
E6400 - Friend loaned me his in 2013
S3000XL - Friend loaned me his last year

So my current setup is MPC2K, S3000XL & E6400

Whats happenin yall. Here's my Sampler history

-Garageband on Mac. Would drag samples into the Musical Typing Window and play with the keyboard.
-Ableton Live 8. With LPD8 and an APC20
-Boss SP-303. Finally got a Hardware Sampler. Loved it. Will buy another.
-Akai MPC2000 Classic. Moved up to a more powerful Sequencer and Sampler. Finally some Envelopes and proper Pitching. I use this for 90% of Drums.
-Akai S5000. MIDI'd to the MPC2k. I use this as a Synthesizer using Single-Cycle Wave-forms. Had to Sell the SP-303 to get the S5k.

I track out into Ableton Live 9 now. I hope to get an ASR10 Rack within a few years to add to the sound. And maybe upgrade to an MPC3k someday if I'm lucky.

MPC 5000

Actually started looping stuff with some busted ass guitar rack effect piece into a 4 track cassette...funny how clueless I was about the whole process, but how much fun the limitations made it---

Yes, I do but nothing spectacular, I was mostly learning it and made what I could with the little memory. If you interested I'll upload those beats, but to me they sound filler.
