Discuss Akai's iOS apps iMPC & iMPC Pro
By Nwordscizzorhandz Thu Jul 04, 2013 7:11 pm
My iMPC has started malfunctioning recently, here's what occurred in sequence:

1) Note hold stopped working in playback
2) In Program Edit mode, the pad volume would not function
3) Track 4 Does not respond during playback
4) iMPC App will not launch

Question:
If I delete the iMPC App and reinstall; Will it repopulate my sample programs or will it revert to default programs?
I know there is a way to save samples via iTunes; Does this include sample programs as well?

Any input is appreciated!

I don't know 100% but any app you totally uninstall then re-install on iOS reverts back to it's default state. That's just how iOS works. So it would have to a function of of an app itself to reload you folders/tags or that kind of stuff. I don't know if beyond exporting any restore function is available. If it was it would be one of the few.

Usually only in app purchases can be restored easily after a re-install because the purchase is stored on the app makers server in your account data.

Without a proper folder system I simply haven't haven;t really used iMPC. It's a decent app but I can't scroll through 1000's of my samples without folders. My own sounds is the reason I use sampling/sequencing apps on iOS. Beatmaker 2 has iMPC beat by miles in that particular area.

Enjoying the track.

But looking at the app just now, I don't see any way to re-import stuff that's been previous exported, only the export command. Like I mentioned it doesn't even support user folders and that's as basic as it gets.

I think you're stuck because all the re-callable saved data is local on the iOS device and on re-install will get deleted no matter what app it is. That being a by product of Apple themselves providing no universal file/folder system.

And yeah I'm with Crossings, your name is the sickness. :hmmm:

Took a second to even sink in, but I'm still laughing minutes later.
