iMPC Pro / MPC Fly

Will the iMPC Pro work with the MPC Fly?

...and the answer is? ....yes! ...confirmed by Retronyms (as long as the iPad has a 30 pin connector, it will work) ...any questions?

I don't know what else to add on. Enjoy the app when it releases man.

Works fine, just tried it.
Pads do sometimes hit the note twice but that's probably due to the mediocre quality of the pads.

Slightly OT I suppose, but when the Tabletop fix passes Apple's review process, I'd like to see how the Arturia Beatstep vibes with iMPC pro.

As for the Fly and Element controllers, anybody able to confirm they are the same as far as pads? I think that design looks more prone to mechanical failure than the classic sensor sheet+pad sheet design. But trying them in a store they felt good. But that was the Ren.

I know in a review of the Fly a friend posted a video and he felt the lower travel distance of the pads mounting on the Fly caused some issues.

I only had the Fly for a short time and I just got the Element yesterday (Brooklyn Guitar Center used for $59), but I'm pretty sure the pads are the same.

I didn't like the Fly because it was too bulky due to the internal battery and clumsy case. It would be ok if I was going to dedicate an Ipad to beatmaking, but I use my Ipad for a bunch of other stuff and couldn't deal with having to constantly move it from one case to another. With the Element I can use it and still keep my Ipad in the Targus swivel case which lets me use the Ipad with landscape apps. such as iMPC as well as with portrait only apps. such as Korg gadget.

Looking at pics now I see the Element is about the same low profile height as the Fly.

I gave away two of those Korg Nanos to friends trying to get them started on beats. So I'm looking for a new smaller controller for iPad. I'm mostly in the house with iPad though so maybe I just stick with the pad modded MPD32.

No problem Metatron. Another good pad controller option fot the Ipad is the Quneo!
In addition to using it as a pad controller it makes a great synth. controller because it also has sliders, faders, etc. There are also custom templates for it for using it with Beatmaker, iMPC, iMS-20, Ableton, Rason, Traktor, etc.

For me the FLY is the way to go.
NO clumsy cables, protects the Ipad BIG TIME when travelling and it can be picked up for less than $99.

The Quneo is simply too expensive yet more versatile. It's not integrated and will not hold up the Ipad.

When you are not busy making music the FLY acts as a decent Ipad stand and i like the loader system that is a lot easier to connect than any ipad cable (30 pins or lightning).
Another big advantage is that because it's all there and integrated you tend to grab it much quicker and work more on your music.


Biggest drawbacks of the fly:

- Not supported in any software other than Impc/pro and partly BM2
- Bulky and VERY heavy in comparison (heavier than most netbooks)
- Internal battery does Nothing for the Ipad as for charging or extending battery life

Only worth it if you can pick it up at the cheap price like i did.
It simply isn't worth the full retail price no matter what anybody says.
