Yesterday picked up my iPad Air to find the screen cracked even though that unit had not suffered a knock. Started googling and spontaneous, or very easy, cracking is a problem.

Anyone have that problem here, perhaps those of us that hit the 'virtual pads' hard on beatmaking software.

Funny you should mention this. My Ipad Air screen is cracked up after falling off of a school room desk onto a hardwood gym floor yesterday. I just purchased it in Feb. It was in a case. I had the Ipad 2 for about 3 years prior and it survived all kinds of falls and even survived me backing over it in my jeep after I had left it on the bumper. There were even tire marks on the case! It is obvious that the new models are either using inferior glass or poorly designed.

Now I have to either pay Apple up to $300 to repair it at the Apple Store or pay $149 for a local repair shop to fix it.

It still works for now, but I won't be tapping beats on the screen for the next few days. Luckily I have a Quneo pad controller and a small Akai Synthstation keyboard contoller (which works wirelessly with the Ipad using Apollo midi-over-bluetooth:)

I've read elsewhere of people complaining about the air's screen cracking seemingly out of nowhere. I'll be waiting to see what happens with the next generation before I replace my 4

Good I didn't get the Air. I'm still on the 4. I'm curious on how they will solve this in the upcoming iPad.

I think it could be the heat-dispensation and the thin form-factor which causes this reaction.
