Just a minute of live mixdown. 3 stereo pairs from MPC1000 and synths being sequenced from MPC1000 into mixer. Kick on one stereo pair, break on another plus stereo out for rest.
Add parallel compression and FX as well from two separate stereo AUX sends that are then returned to mixer as two stereo pairs - one FX and one parallel compressor stereo pair for blending into mix.
Then cheap compressed inserted into master stereo mix bus I/O and I feed that compressors side chain with a subgroup stereo send which in this case is the kick of course. because I'm making breakbeats with lots of synths I want the kick to punch through the mix. It works for hip hop to of course and edm to.
Same set up can be done with DAW to of course but I don't use computer and wanna get a fat loud but tight sound live here. I say its working but I need to buy digital compressor or something with recall settings though I can also use subgroups sends to control how much it comps around the kick.
What's a good comp with recall? Or maybe finaliser might be other option and midi saved settings for each song?
