Turntables without external turntable?

Hi. I’m wondering if I can do turntable sounds on my Akai Mini/MPC Beats Studio without the use of plugging in an actual turntable. I saw someone (Nik Nokturnal) do it with the red joystick and I’m wondering how I could do it as well. Thank you!
