Arrangerment

I’m now using the mpc 3 software and trying to arrange my old beats. The way I used to do it in 2.0 was separate my drums into tracks. I know now that when you open your old beats in 3.0 your tracks are now midi I get that part but what I’m trying to do is arrange my beats. My problem is that when I try to take out elements of the drums on the midi tracks using the erase and select pad function it not playing the right sound for example if pad 1 was a kick it won’t play that it plays something else I know you have to be in the right bank but even that not working and when I do locate the right sound and press the erase pad function it doesn’t work is this something that Akai is going to fix or is there a work around.
