But then, would it be neccessary to go this route if someone is already set using a decent/powerful daw?

Not to cut you off...but we are getting off track here. There are other threads dedicated to reasons for/against buying the Ren.

Adding your suggestions for running external gear using the Ren is more appropriate in this thread. Also, what features of the decent/powerful DAW would you like to see added to the Ren?

Well, if I or no one else knows for sure what the ren is capable of doing when it comes to being an "interface", then how can we make suggestions?

I'm just curious to know what makes this the answer to what's not already available, other than something to drool over because it's something "new" from akai.

I'm not trying to burst anybodys bubble, I'd just like to know where's the frosting on this wonderful cake that's being made. Now if it can taste better, then by all means why not have a few chefs to offer their opinions on how to bring it up to par.

That's all....

If you need to know what it is capable of before you make a suggestion...then use the MPC 5000/2500 as references on what that Ren can or will be able to accomplish.

I agree, a clear and structured update path, with bugs fixed within x days of being reported, a proper bug reporting system, feature request system and honest feedback over the state of specific bug fixes.

It's features like that which will ensure the Ren becomes a force to be reckoned with.

And isn't the ren computer dependent anyway? Plus, other than channeling a bunch of vst's as a controller, what are the other major benefits of having to have one of these that can't be accomplished with any of the current mpc's

Good point ----and on the minds of many.

This.

Jahrome ur asking for suggestions but people haven't used or test drove the Ren. It's not a fair feature inquiry. Yes they can check the website but they still won't know "for sure" what is coming and what all is being worked on ya know. It'll be wishing/guesswork.

That's not good. If I wanna know what's up with the Lambo your telling me to test drive a souped Fiat 500 and it doesn't even come with J-Lo riding shotgun while naked?! That's ridiculous

Well, you beat me to it Lamp. Yeah, I was gonna say something to that affect as well. Referring something such as the 5k would not be such a good idea. Its got its own issues within itself that have never been corrected properly.

The best thing Akai should have done imho, was hold off on the public relations stuff until they were actually ready to launch this thing. Then imagine what it would be like to have one in hand to find out it's assets/shortcomings so that Akai can apply features/fixes the way it's supposed to be.

I disagree. You don't need to know what it can do in order to make a feature suggestion. You guys are over thinking things. Akai traveled the world and ask producers what they want to see in this product. This is/was the perfect place to get in suggestions while the product is in development...

If you want non-destructive chopping (NDC) simply say so. If it is released with NDC...great...you have your feature request...no harm no foul. If it is released without NDC...you have your feature request noted.

The Ren is based off of the other Numark/Akai MPCs (See MPC 5000/2500)....whether that makes you want it more or less is your own personal demon. :P

*Note that feature requests from those that have never seen/touched the Ren have been added or projected.
