Well, you can't fault Akai for assuming musicians possess some resemblance of musical pitch, most musicians certainly tend to have a comparative sense of pitch, e.g. guitarists, who tend to use guitar tuners only to nail concert pitch on one string and then use their ears to tune everything to that.
Not saying it's not a useful feature for the tone deaf, but I wouldn't call it an essential or missing feature on an MPC. Remember the MPC is a funny little hybrid machine that is neither a DAW nor audio editor nor fully fledged sampler, I don't think Akai ever intended the MPC Software to be all encompassing monster. 'There's already a VST a plug in for that' probably sums up the general feeling on these niche feature requests.
But IMO if you fancy yourself as a musician (i.e. you want to make music) and are tone deaf, you really should be taking the time to train your ears, 'perfect pitch' is something that can be learnt with practice and patience, just like most other aspects of learning a musical instrument. Not saying you 'must' have perfect pitch to be in the 'musician club', but it does help.
