@Fatgiver, the updater shows you that you don't have the mpc software installed cos you change dhe name. rename it again to mpc.app and updater will tell you it is up to date.

How do you load it in the first place?
Using the browser to view its folder (/Applications/AIR Music Technology/Hybrid) shows nothing for me in the browser.

Whilst I'm here, please note that the "copying 1.6 out of the way and installing 1.7 next to it trick" kinda works, but IS NOT SUPPORTED at all.

There are a few installation issues that you may run into with versions of MPC support files that will lead to weird problems.

This is like mucking around with the install of any other application you use. If you rely on the MPC software, you should not attempt this "trick".

If you run into problems, please only report them if you HAVE NOT done this.

Thanks!

And enjoy...

Ah…to answer my own Q:

Hybrid appears in the plugin program instrument browser under “MPC Expansions” and in the new Expansion Browser sidebar.

Never had used that menu before as I haven't installed the expansions.

I'm also getting the CRASH when I switch from Hybrid to None.

Win 8.1 64 bit MPC studio.

edit:

32 bit version also CRASHES out :)

The installation process went perfect here.

I am now checking out the software for bugs.

I've noticed a high level peak in the CPU meter, when loading a patches from the expansion kid The Bank. Then it drops, everything work fine after that, also in the playback. The Hybrid 3 expansion pack peaks only a few percentages, but continuously during the playback. All the other expansion kids work fine, with no leveling in the meter. This includes the expansion packs Elements of House and Elements of UK Dance.

The crash protection worked great.

Question: how do I get the new free Expansion packs?

I am running a Mac Book Pro 2,9 Ghz, i7. 16 GB RAM memory, 4 slots of 4 GB each, 1600Hmz DDR3.

Probably because Hybrid 3 is a virtual analogue synth plugin, which requires processing power to operate, while the other MPC Expansions are just playing back samples, which does not require much processing power.

The free Expansions might be available to download from the Akai website, after you log in to your account on there?

There is no expansion on customer area in akaipro.com

EDIT: When you switch from any plugin to <none> on a plugin in track, the software crashes. Can easily be reproduced.

Anyone have previous projects that have problems loading/being replicated exactly in the change from 1.6 to 1.7?

I'm happy the finally update is here, but I'm in the midst of working on some heavy projects and I want to be sure everything will translate properly to 1.7 before updating.

Unfortunately with their recent track record I don't trust that Akai has all of their bases covered from the jump.

Confirmed.

I have checked the other native plugins as well, and it shows the same result. Crashing after going back to <none>.

It also happens with non-native plugins/ 3th partly.

But crashing only happens in the Select Plugin dialog box.

If you rollback in the Pgm to <none> it's just fine.
