Hi all,

just got my REN today. Doing some sample editing and I notice that when I leave the sample edit screen and come back to it to do some more adjusting to the sample. When I turn the qlinks it kick the edit back to the beginning of the sample if I adjusting the end and the end of the sample if I'm woking on the start. Has anyone else had this problem?

Also my bank CD is jacked up. Would one of you mac user like to clone a copy for me and dropbox it to me so I can have it to install? I will most likely call akai about this to send me a new CD but in the meantime I would like to have the sounds.

oh yeah and I'm using mac 10.6.8

Thanks,
Hec

after a while when using the spdif input and monitoring via sample rec, the meter stops responding to sound coming in. I can hear the sound, but the audio meter does not move, nor does it record anything. I have to remove the digital cable, and put it back in...the it responds/records fine.

when this happens, i just take the spdif cable out, put it back in, and it works. I sample through the digital input a lot.

IMAKEMADBEATS wrote:When trimming a sample (trim mode, not chop mode) using the q links to adjust the end point of a sample skips to the beginning of the sample erratically sometimes. Even when using the x1 or x10 and turning slowly...it may skip straight to the beginning of the sample...making you have to bring it all the back to the end and trim.

I been having this problem as well even with snap off. has anyone found a fix for this or is this a bug that needs to be addressed

wakko1999 wrote:This is similar to the issue with the Inst field and PGM field mismatch, except this happens when navigating the sequences and is slightly different behavior...again this is all from the perspective of trying to use the hard are exclusively....

Platform info: OSX 10.7.4, 8GB memory, Dual Quad MacPro Tower, MPC 1.0 Software

ISSUE: Inst/Pgm field value mismatch and recorded MIDI notes not playing when moving from a used sequence to an unused sequence
(the procedures to reproduce are combined in the description of the problem)

When navigating from a recorded sequence to an empty sequence (i.e. from a recorded Seq 1 to an unused Seq 2), Track 1 in the empty sequence (Seq 2) will appear to be in Plugin mode (Inst displays 'plugin' and Pgm shows the same plugin name used in Track 1 of Seq 1). Actually, if you hit the pads immediately after switching to the unused sequence you will hear sounds from the plugin, but their amplitude will slowly fade out.

If you record MIDI data in Seq 2, the notes will be recorded (will show in the piano grid in the software), but no sound will be heard when you perform or when you play it back. In addition, if you then navigate from Track 1 in Seq 2 to the next track and then back to Track 1, Track 1 will now show Inst as 'MPC' and Pgm as 'Program 1' and the MIDI notes you recorded still will not sound (since its in drum mode).

If you then navigate back to Seq 1, its Track 1 will have its Inst field show 'MPC' and the Pgm field shows the plugin name. Playing the pads WILL play/sound the plugin and you can record new notes w/o issue, so it appears to be more of a display issue when navigating back to this sequence.

However, if you then navigate back to Seq 2, its Track 1 will once again display as if its in plugin mode (although this time its Inst field will be set to MPC). You will see the MIDI notes you recorded in the software, but pressing play will still produce no sound...

Yea but even if it's in plugin or you change it from Mpc to plugin the actual sound from the wub, the bank, or whatever need to be picked in that NEW sequence from song on the original track it was recorded on manually... If that makes any sense haha

But it sucks.. Someone help me export the whole song from song mode please

MPC Ren users, if you discover an annoying bug that you want to see quickly addressed, please provide a simple and easy read/follow step by step repro. Wordy paragraphs are difficult to read and follow.

yeah i know that...in short, the bug i'm pointing out is that the plugin instnace from the first sequence is already displayed as active in track 1 of the second unused sequence when you navigate to it. it shouldnt be. and if you move through the tracks is the second sequence and then go back to the first sequence, the tracks in the first sequence end up with that inst/pgm field mismatch....easier to show it than try to type it because describing to reproduce is lengthy

Nah my dude I kno exactly what ur sayin.. It's a major issue especially if I'm forced to convert my song mode to a new sequence.. Gotta set up all the synths (not notes) just plugin instruments all over again.. Imagine if I use 20 or more.. Unless there's a way to export the ENTIRE song in song mode that I'm not aware of...

I hope sum1 can hook me up cuz I already got like 4 beats done and I want to export w/o the headache.

I'll post a vid this weekend. Thx for lookin out tho. Good to kno I'm not alone on this.

I'm trying to trouble shoot this issue. Can you try this below:

1. Load a drum kit
2. Assign it to Track 1 and Track 2
3. Record Kicks on Track 1; Record Snares on Track 2
4. Press SHIFT + EFFECT for Effect Mode; DO NOT TOUCH PADS after this
5. Press F2 [Track]; Press F6 [Send]
6. Use your cursor keys and data wheel to select 'Track 1'
7. Add 'Reverb Large' to Send1; turn Level to 100.
8. Press Play and then Stop after 2 bars; Do you hear a Kick with reverb?
9. Use your cursor keys and data wheel to select 'Track 2'
10. Add 'Reverb Large' to Send1; turn Level to 100.
11. Press Play and then Stop after 2 bars; Do you hear a Snare with reverb?

Remember, do not touch pads after Step 3.

Try this for me.

1. Start your MPC software fresh; Load a Snare on Pad A01 in Program 001
2. Pull up Program Edit Mode in the software; strike Pad A01 (it should stay green)
3. Find Master Mode (far left) and set to POLY; MUTE TARGET below should be OFF
4. Find Pad Play Mode (right); set your Pad/sample to One-shot and Poly
5. Make sure MUTE GROUP is OFF

Now strike Pad A01 multiple times to see if it works as you expect it.

Note - Mute Group On + Poly = Mono playback
