Just some thoughts I had on the whole mixer situation and how to deal with it.

The new implementation of the instrument plugins since 1.3 has been great. They get their own track, you can insert FX on them, and you can duplicate sequences without worrying about duplicating or losing FX inserts on them between sequences.

So.... Why not expand this to Programs? Let us route the output of any sound to any plugin track (whether there is a plugin instrument inserted on it or not). This way we could use the plugin mixer as a universal mixer. It would also allow us to route audio for using sidechaining, vocoding, etc...

By using something that is already implemented it should make the whole process a lot easier to just allow routing to the plugin tracks.

If that doesn't work maybe they could have a "VST/AU" version of the internal sampler, or treat the internal sampler like one. Keeping the hardware integration but allow the flexibility of plugin tracks.

There is also the "inserts" on submixes that I keep mentioning.

.... end thought

Are you sure you can insert FX on Plugin Instrument tracks?

Yeah... unless I've gone crazy (which isn't out of the question).
