MPC-Tutor is right. Go to Program Edit (Ctrl + 3 on PC), then along the bottom click on the pad you want to remove, then scroll to the right a bit to the "Sample Layers" section. In the first box is the assigned sample; click the drop down menu and scroll to the very top and click "None".

In Home mode you can't remove a sample from an assigned pad (but you can drag a new one over the top and it will remove the old one, but you'll have the new one). So if you wanted it "blank" just put the second sample on the first one again (duplicate).
