My desktop MPC is frozen, Re-installed twice - still frozen

The cursor on my desktop MPC software is frozen, and will not budge.
This was not as a consequence of changing the settings, but completely "out of the blue".
I reinstalled it - NADA - still stuck - the time cursor is not responding to play or record.
Please Help
